Ways to Honor Veterans Across Douglas County and Beyond

This November brings meaningful opportunities to honor the men and women who have served our country as communities across Douglas County and the greater Denver metro area come together to celebrate our country’s veterans.

Whether you’re a veteran yourself, a family member, or simply someone who wants to show appreciation, here are some ways to take part and honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans through a variety of events.

Veterans Concert ($)

Nov. 9; 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Highlands Ranch Mansion
Join us for a heartfelt Veterans Concert honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. Enjoy an inspiring evening of patriotic music, moving tributes, and community spirit as we come together to celebrate our heroes with gratitude and song. This special event is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans, recognize their service, and unite as a community in appreciation for their dedication.

Highlands Ranch Veterans Day Celebration

Nov. 11; 6:30 p.m.
Highlands Ranch Library
Honor veterans at the annual Highlands Ranch Veterans Day Celebration, which includes patriotic music from the Highlands Ranch Concert Band, color guard and a guest speaker, yet to be announced. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and visit the Highlands Ranch Veterans Monument, located outside of the library, prior to the event. A focal point of the monument is a special tribute memorial to three very special hometown heroes whose names are etched in stone: Staff Sergeant Christopher Falkel, Sergeant Jon Stiles and Corporal Max Donahue.

Veterans Day Fireworks Show (Castle Rock)

Nov. 11; 7 p.m.
Philip S. Miller Park
The Town of Castle Rock’s fireworks show will light up the sky this fall. Originally planned for July Fourth, the show has been rescheduled for Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, weather and fire restrictions permitting. The 20- to 22-minute high-flying show will launch at 7 p.m. from Miller’s Landing, off Plum Creek Parkway just east of Philip S. Miller Park. A three-shot salute will signal the start of the display.

Veterans Day Fireworks Show (Parker)

Nov. 11; 7 p.m.
Salisbury Park
Join the Town of Parker for the rescheduled display this Veterans Day as we honor those who have served and recognize a milestone year for our nation, state and Town: America’s 250th, Colorado’s 150th and Parker’s 45th anniversaries. Fireworks will launch from just northeast of Salisbury Park, weather permitting. The park will be open to the public that day, but there will be no additional services or activities and only limited parking available (300 paved spaces) on a first-come, first-served basis.

Denver Veterans Day Run, Festival, and Parade

Nov. 14; All Day
Denver City Park
Head to Denver City Park for the 17th annual Denver Veterans Day Run, Festival, and Parade held by the Colorado Veterans Project to celebrate and honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Opening remarks precede the 10k ruck, 10k run, and 5k run/walk at 8:15 a.m. and the parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Events end at 2:30 p.m.
