Arts in the Afternoon Debussy and More: Harp, Flute, Viola

January 21, 2026 @ 1:30 pm

$24

The crystalline harp. The lyrical flute. The soulful viola. Their varied sounds fit naturally together, even magically, as Debussy proved when, in 1915, he wrote a sonata that combines them. So did Grammy-winning composer Miguel Del Águila, though in a different century and a different hemisphere, with his Submerged (2013). In both cases, the result is music that can sing and dance, muse and rejoice. Violist Phillip Stevens and friends will perform those works, along with others composed for flute, viola, and harp. Concert host Betsy Schwarm will guide listeners through the music.
