National Prescription Drug Take Back Event

Safely dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Stop by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Substation in Highlands Ranch anytime between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and drop off unused or expired medications at the drive-through tents.
Items not accepted at the event include:
Syringes, needles or other sharps
Inhalers, such as those for asthma
Aerosol cans
Mercury thermometers
Iodine-containing medications
Illegal drugs or substances (including marijuana which is still a schedule 1 drug under federal law), and any prescription medications obtained illegally.
The event is co-sponsored by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Highlands Ranch Metro District and Highlands Ranch Water.
