Western Songs, Sunsets & Urban Cowgirls

May 3 @ 3:30 pm

$49

oin us at the Castle for a Western afternoon music showcase by Colorado’s own Jon Chandler and accompanist Ernie Martinez. Musicians extraordinaire, Jon’s songwriting brings the West alive with stories and characters who’ve stood the test of time. And Ernie Martinez is a maestro of many instruments who dazzles with his virtuosity. With Jon’s newest album comes a bounty of honors by the Western Music Association (Male Performer of the Year) and others.

Following the concert, enjoy a break for libations and light appetizers then hunker down for a short segment of “Famous Cowgirls That Weren’t”, a visual tour since the 1950s of Hollywood’s leading ladies who helped portray Western women who rode hard and stood tall! From Doris Day and Jane Russell to Marlene Dietrich and Jane Fonda to — Beyonce? All to introduce Colorado author Corinne Joy Brown’s fun new book “How to Be an Urban Cowgirl and Find Your Inner West”, a light-hearted guide to being a cowgirl even if you don’t live on a ranch. Yeehaw! Door opens at 3:30pm, music at 4:15pm followed by the presentation. The book will be available for purchase and Ms. Brown will be happy to sign yours!
