Walking As Performative Movement: A Gentle, Creative Movement Workshop for People with Parkinson’s

May 18 @ 10:00 am – 10:30 am

Free

Come explore movement in a supportive, welcoming environment. This series of workshops blends gentle exercise, creativity, and social connection in a way that is accessible for all mobility levels.

Each workshop offers fresh, stand alone content, so you can drop into the sessions you want or experience the full six part series.

Performative Movement uses simple guided activities inspired by theater and expressive arts to help you explore how your body moves and expresses. There are no dance routines to memorize and no performance required, simply opportunities to move, play, and connect with others.

Each 60-minute workshop includes:
· Gentle, guided movement you can adapt to your comfort level
· Breathing and body awareness activities
· Light, beginner-friendly theater activities that use imagination, storytelling, and simple prompts
· Creative and playful group interaction
· A supportive space for self-expression and connection

Sessions will be facilitated by Patrick Elkins-Zeglarski. Patrick’s teaching practice has long been informed by his interest in the duality of arts-integrated curriculum and cognitive/creative response. Continually drawn toward active engagement with ideas and institutions based on inquiry and curiosity, Patrick’s facilitation of immersive arts-based learning residencies includes preK-12 classrooms, universities, theatre companies, museums, and social service organizations. Patrick serves as Community Programs Coordinator for the Lone Tree Arts Center.
