SUMMARY:Django Jingles - Jazz Manouche and More\, Featuring Marion Powers
DESCRIPTION:The CJRO small band led by vocalist\, Marion Powers steps into the world of hot swing with a rhythmically rich concert paying tribute to legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt. \n\n\n\nJazz manouche is generally traced to Jean “Django” Reinhardt\, a Romani guitarist known for his use of the Selmer-Maccaferri guitar\, and Grappelli\, a French swing violinist. Together they formed the Quintette du Hot Club de France in 1934\, creating a distinctive sound that became highly popular among the Manouche\, a Romani population in France. \n\n\n\nJazz manouche—also referred to as the now lesser-used term “gypsy jazz”—is known by several names\, including “hot jazz\,” “hot club jazz\,” or simply “hot club\,” reflecting its energetic tempos and driving feel. Blending American jazz with Romani musical traditions\, the style is characterized by acoustic instrumentation\, propulsive rhythms\, and spirited improvisation. Though it originated in France\, jazz manouche genre was strongly influenced by the American jazz scene of the early 20th century.

SUMMARY:Murder & Mystery - Unlucky Charms
DESCRIPTION:An Irish wake is meant to be a celebration\, music echoing through crowded rooms\, whiskey poured a little too freely\, laughter cutting through grief as old stories and older grudges resurface. This one begins no differently\, with mourners gathering to honor the dead and comfort the living. But as the night wears on\, secrets slip out alongside the jokes\, tensions rise with every toast\, and the line between mourning and madness blurs. \n\n\n\nBy the time the candles burn low\, it becomes clear that grief has loosened more than tongues. What was meant to be a farewell has turned into something far darker. Before dawn breaks\, one death will no longer be the only tragedy of the night and everyone present will have a reason to fear what comes next. \n\n\n\nTrade clues with your fellow guests and help unravel the truth before the wake takes an even deadlier turn. \n\n\n\nGuests are encouraged to dress in their finest funeral attire\, Celtic-inspired outfits\, or anything that channels the spirit of a rowdy Irish wake. Whether you arrive somber\, spirited\, or somewhere in between\, you’ll fit right in. \n\n\n\nIndulge in delectable heavy appetizers (more like a meal) and enjoy selections from our cash bar.

SUMMARY:History of Colorado Cattle Ranching Lecture
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Colorado’s 150th anniversary\, Douglas Land Conservancy in collaboration with the Douglas County Library and support from Douglas County History Repository is pleased to announce a celebration of the history of cattle ranching in Douglas County. Stop by the Philip and Jerry Miller Library in Castle Rock through April to see the ranch history display and find several books to learn more in the local history lounge upstairs. \n\n\n\nLong-time resident Sharon Sjostrom will share stories of cattle drives from Texas and the transition from open range to fenced ranches. You’ll hear about some of the ranches that have now been permanently protected with conservation easements\, like Greenland and Cherokee ranches\, and the breeds of cattle they introduced and raised in Colorado. A reception will be held upstairs in the local history lounge beginning at 5pm. This is a great chance to view the display of Ranch history that the Library has put together and share stories. The presentation will begin at 6pm downstairs in Event Hall B. \n\n\n\nThis display and presentation are part of a project to preserve and protect the cultural history of our conserved lands. This means archiving historical documents\, saving physical artifacts from destruction\, interviewing landowners and long-time residents\, and consolidating information to contribute to our understanding of the amazing history of Douglas County. \n\n\n\nDLC presentations are offered free of charge\, but a $10 per person donation is suggested so that we may continue to offer educational outreach events in the community.

SUMMARY:The Young Dubliners
DESCRIPTION:After 30 years as one of the world’s leading Celtic rock bands\, The Young Dubliners have begun work on their tenth studio album (with longtime producer Irish-born Tim Boland) and have returned to the road determined to bring their fusion of Celtic and rock music to as many people as they can. With a batch of incredible new songs and undeniable energy\, the band is excited to bring their show to the world. \n\n\n\nThe band includes Keith Roberts (vocals / guitar)\, Chas Waltz (violin\, keys\, vocals)\, Justin Pecot (guitar\, vocals)\, Dave Ingraham (drums) and Ethan Jones (bass guitar). \n\n\n\nThe Young Dubliners have released nine albums to date. In recent years\, the band has appeared twice on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live\, had songs featured in TV shows (Sons of Anarchy\, Human Target) and toured extensively as a headliner and as the opener for such a diverse list of artists as Collective Soul\, Jethro Tull\, Johnny Lang\, Los Lobos\, and Chris Issak. \n\n\n\nAlthough the Young Dubliners’ sound is most commonly called Celtic Rock\, that label can often be misleading. The Irish influence is certainly there\, but it’s not the only influence that bursts through on their albums or live shows. After all\, several of the band members have no Irish roots of any kind.
