DESCRIPTION:Explore the origins\, development and evolution of the High Line Canal with historian Rachel Stenz. Built to bring water to the arid plains of Colorado in the late 19th century\, the canal has transformed from an irrigation system to a cherished recreational and cultural landmark. Throughout her academic and professional work\, Rachel has focused on collaborative\, community-driven approaches to history. She believes in sharing authority\, listening to local voices\, and using tools like oral history and interdisciplinary work to tell meaningful stories. She is especially interested in how public spaces can preserve historical narratives and bring local communities together.

SUMMARY:Castle Rock Arbor Day Tree Planting
DESCRIPTION:Register today — advance registration is required to participate. Let’s work together to enhance our community’s natural spaces! In Castle Rock\, we love our trees! As part of the Town’s commitment to being a Tree City USA\, the POST Partners Volunteer Program hosts annual volunteer tree planting opportunities at neighborhood parks and area green belts. Volunteering is a great way to celebrate the many benefits trees bring to our community — from cleaner air and water to cooler streets and healthier neighborhoods. \n\n\n\nWith over 30 trees planted annually\, participating in an Arbor Day tree planting is a great way for local businesses to plan a fun and meaningful team-building experience. Douglas County School District students generally have the Friday of Arbor Day off\, so this is a perfect opportunity for them to earn community service hours before the end of the school year.
