Aging Resources of Douglas County, a local nonprofit organization in Douglas County, launched a new free shuttle service in October for residents of Meadowmark, Oakwood Senior Apartments and Reyn Rock Apartments in Castle Rock.
These residents can now use the service on Tuesdays and Thursdays to go to medical appointments, stock up on household items and groceries, or simply see the town.
The launch of the new shuttle program comes from a partnership with Aging Resources of Douglas County, AdventHealth and the Douglas County Housing Partnership. It is also made possible by Douglas County’s investment of $1.5 million in new and expanded services for older adults.
With 12 seats on board, the singular shuttle’s daily route takes residents from their apartments to AdventHealth Castle Rock, King Soopers, Walmart and back about three to four times a day.
Additionally, the shuttles operate on a time schedule, therefore, there is a limited time for boarding and exiting the shuttle. Shuttles start operating at 9 a.m. and run until 3 or 4 p.m., depending on the route.
The schedule for the shuttle service can be found here.
