Historic Douglas County, Inc
Historic Douglas County, Inc. (HDC) is an organization designed and constructed to provide broad communication with the public about the historically rich venues, events and cultural values upon which our pioneering forerunners built a foundation for what-we-know-today as Douglas County, Colorado. Organized and constructed as a non-profit organization in 2008, HDC was approved and federally recognized in 2009 as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. HDC is not an organization for directly researching in-depth historical information but can steer you in the right direction for your research.
HDC provides assistance in event marketing and historical projects assistance for historical societies, historical venues and history educational entities. HDC also provides various types of education resources that are available to schools to assist in their planned history curriculums and also provides presentations to organizations wanting brief information regarding our County’s pioneering cultures and development history. HDC also works with historical entities in surrounding counties (El Paso and Arapahoe) as well as those counties within the old territorial Douglas County boundaries which encompassed the area that today defines Douglas County (Elbert, Lincoln and Kit Carson). Information regarding the latter counties can be found on our Around the West webpage.
