On Jan. 27, Douglas County residents enduring hard times can take advantage of a free hot meal and more than 25 local service organizations available at the Strive to Thrive Resource and Service Fair from 4 to 6 p.m. at Calvary Castle Rock, 1480 Canyon Drive in Castle Rock.

This free event provides attendees with information on where to access food and clothing, medical assistance and more. They may also be able to pick up food and clothing at the event.
Attendees can also learn about employment opportunities, how to apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps), as well as many other supportive services.
This event features the usual resources available at Strive to Thrive, along with something new: a Spring Sports Expo. Organized sports scholarships are available for children aged 3-18, covering equipment, uniforms, player registration fees, and other related expenses.
Strive to Thrive is a bi-annual event hosted by the Community of Care Network. Each year, usually in January and July, more than 25 agencies and organizations come together to offer a one-stop-shop resource fair for vulnerable residents in Douglas County. Participating agencies provide on-site services to those in attendance. In the past, the event offers access to job listings, housing information and assistance, food, clothes, household supplies, medical care, dental screenings, haircuts, a free meal and much more.
