Douglas County Residents Can Now Recycle Electronics Locally
Douglas County residents now have a convenient, local option for recycling unwanted electronics through GreenWorks, the County’s new waste diversion program.
Residents can schedule an appointment to drop off a wide range of electronic devices at the County’s electronics recycling site in Sedalia. The new service eliminates the need to travel outside Douglas County to responsibly recycle electronics and expands access to year-round e-waste recycling.
What Can I Recycle?
The program accepts a variety of electronic items, including:
Desktop and laptop computers
Tablets
Monitors
Televisions
Printers
Fax machines
Keyboards and mice
DVD players and VCRs
Cell phones
Gaming consoles
The electronics recycling program does not accept:
Large appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, and dryers
Small household appliances, such as microwave ovens, fans, coffee makers, toasters, and blenders
Electric lawn mowers
Power tools
Be sure to review the complete list of accepted materials before scheduling your appointment.
How to Schedule a Drop-Off
Electronics recycling is available by appointment only for Douglas County residents. Visitors must bring a valid ID or other proof of residency, and materials must be dropped off during staffed operating hours.
The electronics recycling site is located at 5675 Delva Way in Sedalia, next to Core Electric and the Sedalia Landfill.
Residents can schedule an appointment and view the complete list of accepted materials on the Douglas County website.
More Recycling Options Coming Soon
The County is planning to add household hazardous waste disposal options and a biochar facility in September, creating a more comprehensive, one-stop destination for waste diversion services in Douglas County.
